The Lake Zoar Authority is a multi-town organization consisting of representatives from the four towns that border the lake - Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury. The Lake Zoar Authority is tasked with the goals of improving water quality and promoting safe boating on the lake.

The regular meeting of the Lake Zoar Authority was held Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at the Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, CT  06468

Gary Fillion, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. with all Commissioners present.

 

Secretary’s Report:

A motion to accept the minutes as read from the January 2, 2018 meeting was made by Bob Mouchantat, seconded by Jerry Isleib; the motion was passed unanimously.

 

Public Comments:

No public attendance

 

Correspondence and News Clippings:

The Candlewood Lake Authority minutes were circulated.

                               

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Mouchantat, Treasurer, presented account balances. A motion to accept the Treasures Report was made by Gary Dennen, seconded by Frank Cavallo; the motion was passed unanimously.

                                                                                                                                             

Marine Patrol Report:

None – there were no patrols during the past month.

 

Publicity/ Public Awareness:

None

 

Water Quality / Grants Report:

Gary Fillion, Chairman, repored the annual weed treatment report has been received. A digital copy has been requested. Gary also indicated we will be hosting a professional consultant at the March 6th meeting to discuss the topic of blue green algae on the lake, it’s causes and potential treatment options.

 

Boats and Motors Report:

None – Boats are stored for the winter

 

Coast Guard Auxiliary Report:

No report was available.

Grants:

Dick Speer mentioned the grant application for First Light will be submitted in March.

Adjournment

A motion to adjourn was made by Dick Speer, seconded by Frank Cavallo; the motion was passed unanimously. Gary Fillion, Chairman, adjourned the meeting at 7:23 pm
