The regular meeting of the Lake Zoar Authority was held Tuesday September 3, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Southbury Town Hall.

Ed Kusinski, Vice Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Secretary’s Report:
A motion to accept the minutes as read from the July 1, 2019 meeting was made by Bill May, seconded by Herbert Garber; the motion was passed unanimously.
Public Comments:
Concerns were raised that the chemical weed treatment may be causing the water to turn green due to algae blooms occurring after the treatment has been applied.
A suggestion was made to hire divers to manually remove invasive weed species.
Correspondence and News Clippings:
Candlewood Lake Authority minutes were made available for review.
Treasurer’s Report:
Bob Mouchantat, Treasurer, presented account balances. A motion to accept the Treasurers Report was made by Bill May, seconded by Dick Speer; the motion was passed unanimously
Marine Patrol Report:
It was noted a navigational light was out on the Route 84 bridge.
Patrols still found boaters going past the warning sign below the Shepaug Dam. The new sign is located on the eastern shore instead of directly over the water. Complaints have been raised that the new sign is less obvious to boaters.
Publicity/ Public Awareness:
Bill May advised the LZA website has been updated. He again encouraged LZA commissioners to submit more content.
Water Quality / Grants Report:
The lake was chemically treated for weeds in August.
Boats and Motors Report:
Dick Speer reported the 100 hour service has been performed on both boats.
One boat will be taken out of the water and winterized.
Coast Guard Auxiliary Report:
None.
Grants:
Treasurer, Bob Mouchantat, reported a $15,000 grant was received from First Light.

A motion to adjourn was made by Herbert Garber, seconded by Bill May, the motion was passed unanimously. Ed Kusinski adjourned the meeting at 7:53 pm
