The Lake Zoar Authority is a multi-town organization consisting of representatives from the four towns that border the lake - Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury. The Lake Zoar Authority is tasked with the goals of improving water quality and promoting safe boating on the lake.

The regular meeting of the Lake Zoar Authority was held Tuesday October 1, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Monroe Town Hall, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, CT 06468

Commissioners Present: Ed Kusinski, Vice Chairman, Bob Mouchantat, Treasurer, Gary Fillion, Chairman, Frank Cavallo, Mark Saksa,  Lesley Pires , Dick Speer, and John Downs

Absent: Bill May, Herbert Garber, and Jeff Thomas

Gary Fillion, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Secretary’s Report:

A motion to accept the minutes as read from the September 3, 2019 meeting was made by Mark Saksa, seconded by Dick Speer; the motion was passed unanimously.

 

Public Comments:

None Correspondence and News Clippings: None

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Mouchantat, Treasurer, presented account balances. A motion to accept the Treasurers Report was made by Ed Kusinski, seconded by Dick Speer; the motion was passed unanimously

 

Marine Patrol Report:

None

 

Publicity/ Public Awareness:

We will be contacting the Towns and requesting they add more information about the LZA to their individual websites.

 

Water Quality Report:

Chairman Gary Fillion attended a seminar at Western Connecticut State University which discussed using sterile triploid carp to control weed growth.

A post weed treatment survey has been completed and we are awaiting an official report.

The annual lake drawdown will take place October 23 – November 1

 

Boats and Motors Report:

The patrol boats will be removed from the lake prior to the annual drawdown.

 

Coast Guard Auxiliary Report: 

None.

Adjournment:

A motion to adjourn was made by Frank Cavallo, seconded by Bob Mouchantat, the motion was passed unanimously. Chairman Gary Fillion adjourned the meeting at 8:06 pm
