The Lake Zoar Authority is a multi-town organization consisting of representatives from the four towns that border the lake - Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury. The Lake Zoar Authority is tasked with the goals of improving water quality and promoting safe boating on the lake.

The regular meeting of the Lake Zoar Authority was held Tuesday December 3, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Oxford Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT 06478

 

Commissioners Present:

Ed Kusinski, Vice Chairman

Bob Mouchantat, Treasurer

Gary Fillion, Chairman

Frank Cavallo

John Downs

Lesley Pires

Dick Speer

Bill May

Mark Saksa

 

Absent:

Jeff Thomas

Herbert Garber

 

Gary Fillion, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.

 

Secretary’s Report:

A motion to accept the minutes as read from the Nov 5, 2019 meeting was made by Bill May, seconded by Frank Cavallo; the motion was passed unanimously.

 

Public Comments:

One resident from Monroe was present.

 

Correspondence and News Clippings:

None

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Bob Mouchantat,, Treasurer, presented account balances. A motion to accept the Treasurers Report was made by Dick Speer, seconded by John Downs; the motion was passed unanimously

                                                                                                          

Marine Patrol Report:

None

 

Publicity/ Public Awareness:

Efforts will continue to be made to add meaningful content to the LZA website.

We will be making changes that should allow the site to be more mobile friendly.

 

Water Quality Report:

None

 

Boats and Motors Report:

Dick Speer will investigate alternatives to replace the current flashing lights on the patrol boats with more visible LED units.

Grants:

None

 

Unfinished Business:

Treasurer Bob Mouchantat presented the Fiscal 2021/2022 Annual Budget. A motion to accept the budget as presented was made by Ed Kusinski, seconded by Gary Fillion, the motion was passed unanimously.

The budget will be presented to Monroe, Newtown, Oxford and Southbury.

 

New Business:

Commissioners were encouraged to confirm their term dates with their respective towns.

 

Adjournment

A motion to adjourn was made by Bill May, seconded by Frank Cavallo, the motion was passed unanimously.

Chairman Gary Fillion adjourned the meeting at 8:08 pm
