Job Description for LZA Bookkeeper

The Lake Zoar Authority (LZA) is a multi-town organization consisting of volunteer- representatives from the four towns bordering Lake Zoar – Monroe, Newtown, Oxford and Southbury.  LZA manages water quality and boating safety of Lake Zoar.  We have a part-time position available for an experienced Bookkeeper to provide the following services:

  • Process accounts payable: enter invoices, prepare bill payments, and document each payment (attach check stub; note check number, date, and initials on invoices); maintain organized files for questions/audits
  • Knowledge of Intuit’s Quick Books program
  • Coordinate with the Treasurer to have checks signed and mailed
  • Verify proper expense/account categorization in the accounting system
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements
  • Pick up mail from the Southbury P.O. Box weekly and communicate with the Treasurer at least weekly
  • Create and send annual invoices to the four towns on July 1, coordinating with the Treasurer
  • Deliver incoming checks to the Treasurer for deposit
  • Prepare drafts of monthly Treasurer’s Report

*  Laptop and printer (if needed) will be provided
