Job Description for LZA Bookkeeper
The Lake Zoar Authority (LZA) is a multi-town organization consisting of volunteer- representatives from the four towns bordering Lake Zoar – Monroe, Newtown, Oxford and Southbury. LZA manages water quality and boating safety of Lake Zoar. We have a part-time position available for an experienced Bookkeeper to provide the following services:
- Process accounts payable: enter invoices, prepare bill payments, and document each payment (attach check stub; note check number, date, and initials on invoices); maintain organized files for questions/audits
- Knowledge of Intuit’s Quick Books program
- Coordinate with the Treasurer to have checks signed and mailed
- Verify proper expense/account categorization in the accounting system
- Reconcile monthly bank statements
- Pick up mail from the Southbury P.O. Box weekly and communicate with the Treasurer at least weekly
- Create and send annual invoices to the four towns on July 1, coordinating with the Treasurer
- Deliver incoming checks to the Treasurer for deposit
- Prepare drafts of monthly Treasurer’s Report
