The Lake Zoar Authority is a multi-town organization consisting of representatives from the four towns that border the lake - Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury. The Lake Zoar Authority is tasked with the goals of improving water quality and promoting safe boating on the lake.

FirstLight Power

FirstLight Power operates the Stevenson Damn hydroelectric plant and retains ownership of Lake Zoar. Any building or modification of structures along Lake Zoar must be approved through a permit process by FirstLight. FirstLight is also a caretaker of the lake, and removes debris in the water, but not on shore.
